??? Since a Gulfstreem V (private jet) cost $35K per hour to fly, should we help Billionaires pay their bills?
Gulfstreem says the Staff, Pilot, Hanger, and maintenance fees for a private jet is approximately $35,000 dollars per hour of flight.
It's no wonder the Wall St. Investment Bankers need us to Bail them out.
If they drove a old clunker Mercedes like me (paid for) they could cut transportation down to a couple gallons of gas a day.
So, basically, you want the staff, pilot and maintenance crew to be unemployed.

What are all the expenses if you want to buy a helicopter or a private jet?
Expenses such as do you need to pay the government something extra every time you fly? How much would the fuel cost? The insurence? The cost for using the airport runway and the hanger to store the jet or helicopter? Or any other charges that I am unaware of!! I know there are different price tags on jets and helicops, but think about the cheap but safe types!! Overall howmuch would it cost yearly?
The cost of private aviation is very high. I'll try and break down the cost of private ownership. An aircraft can cost you $10,000,000 to $300,000,000 depending on type of aircraft. Fuel is going to range from $4 to $6 a gallon, but keep in mind a jet can burn through several tons on any given flight. You'll have to get a certificate for the aircraft, a place to store the aircraft. Then you'll have to get a maintenance person or a contract with a company. You will have to have at least one pilot (ranging around $100,000 per year plus benefits). Each pilot has to be sent to training every year. When you fly you'll have to pay for hotel stays for your pilots. Then you'll have upkeep of the plane. And yes, you will need insurance. It's going to cost you a lot. Oh, and did I mention that several airports have landing fees? Yep, you have to pay just to land.
Another solution is Fractional Ownership. Companies like NetJets allow you to buy in to a plane. You get so many hours per year, and they take care of everything.
A small plane like a Hawker 800XP costs $3.4 million to buy in, plus $11,000 per month for upkeep. Then, of course, you have to pay for the hours that you fly also. Hope that helps you realize that coach on jetBlue isn't so bad.

2 questions. How much does a personal helicopter cost? And how much does a private jet cost?
u know how bill gates has his own helicopter and probably his own jet too? well i just want to know whats an average cost of these aircrafts? thank you
A business jet can run anywhere from just under a million used to, well there really is no top end. Some people actually use airliners for 'business" jets and will deck them out like a house with hot tubs and bedrooms, kitchen dining room etc., That could go up to 300 million easy.
On the smaller end Eclipse has introduced a 6 seat business jet that goes for about 1.4 million new. This has been considered to be a quantum leap downwards in the price of a small jet aircraft.
The next cheapest is Cessna's Mustang at 3 million.
I think 5 to 50 million is average price people pay for a new biz jet.
I would say 3 to 10 million would be the average price range for a turbine helicopter.

Will a jet aircraft detect a hand held laser?
This is something I've wondered about for quite some time. I read at a few places on the net that a few folk want to keep 300mW lasers out of the hands of private individuals. Also it is apparently highly illegal to shine a laser at a plane. Are the two proposals connected? I mean, if you point a little battery powered laser towards a plane (even though it could never do any damage), will the pilot get a warning of him being locked on by a rocket launcher or something? What gives?
Never do any damage? wrong.
It will permanently damage the eyes of anyone it hits. Not only directly, but even by a stray reflection off of a shiny surface. So even if you think you are using it safely, the beam could hit a bit of shiny metal, be reflected out a window and blind someone who just happened to be waling by.
In industry, they are used only in a closed room, no windows, and controlled access and everyone wearing protective glasses.
