How much do high school assembly speakers make per talk?

I don't think they make 5k-10K a talk but then again I may be way off base.

My guess is that many public schools might try to get them for free. I think it would depend on the speakers qualifications and reputation, some may be able to get more than others. It would depend too on how much time they spend. They might make 5k a year but definitely not per talk. Maybe $100 an hour or up to $1,000, but this is just a guess.

Assembly $17.99 Part of the elaborate series of reissues LTM did for the Wake in 2002, and perfectly in keeping with the loving way that label handles its resuscitations of long out-of-print items, Assembly pulls together a slew of cuts that couldn't otherwise fit on the other discs in the series. Split into three distinct parts, it's clearly for the hardest of hardcore fans of the band rather than general listeners, though in its own way it could easily be a reasonable introduction for a newcomer, thanks to the years-spanning nature of the compilation. The first four cuts come from a mighty fine 1984 BBC session, kicking off with then-recent single "Talk About the Past," here in a fine, sprightly take still tinged with melancholia, though Vini Reilly's piano part is unsurprisingly absent. "Make You Understand" is a notable treat, thanks to the blend of synth and melodica. The next eight songs come from a Scottish date supporting New Order when Gillespie was still part of the band -- it's clear the future Primal Scream mainman still thought that the ultimate bass player ever was Peter Hook. If a bit thin soundwise, the performance is still brisk and entertaining, with standouts including a frenetic rip on "Recovery" and the sharp "The Drill," which concludes the set. Both sides of the two singles the band released on Sarah during the late '80s and early '90s round out the collection; the downright twinkly semi-psych "Crush the Flowers" and the bitter yet winsome "Lousy Pop Group" are both winners. As a bonus, "Brit Mix," originally an extra CD-only cut on Tidal Wave of Hype, closes everything out. James Nice's appreciative band bio, snippets from 1983-era fanzine interviews, and full recording details on the tracks round out another typically detailed LTM presentation. ~ Ned Raggett

How to start a conversation with a girl i don't talk to ?

I'm 16 and in collage i have an assembly once a fortnight and then i go home. This week on my way home i noticed a girl i like walks the same way home as me. I was thinking of approaching her but i haven't had a proper conversation with her before in the 3-4 years Ive known her. Id really like to get to know her as she always seems like a fun person and i would like to get to know her better. Any help for the next assembly would be great. =)

How can I switch from a manual thermostat to a programmable one?

I recently bought a programmable thermostat to replace my manual one, but the manual included didn't help. Calling for services would be my last resort, so please don't say "call the handyman."

basically see where the wires are on the old one.

i have a basic setup and my wires are:

R= red (hot 24 volts)
W= White (heating)
G= green or blue (blower)
Y= yellow (ac)
you could also go to the furnace unit and double check the wire designations at the control of the furnace. and that should put you on the right path

Mac OSX: Yahoo! Widget Engine Won't launch?

I have downloaded the Yahoo! Widget Engine and a couple of widgets. The problem I am facing is that the Yahoo! Widget Engine won't start. Clicking on the Yahoo! Widget Engine nothing will happen. I have erased the program plist but that did not help. My OS is 10.4.9 and I am usin the version 4 of Yahoo! Widget Engine.

I don't think that you can use yahoo widgets.... mac has there on version you can get it from apple.com.... if you dont have it... the program is called dashboard

Developing a website while it is hosted?

Hi,

I am a newbie to an extent when it comes to the practicalities of web design. I am currently designing web pages locally on my computer using apache, but unfortunately it is proving very difficult to install certain PHP- related features on my computer so that I can test code out locally.
However, certain web hosting companies have these installed on their servers as part of their offered services.

I was wondering, is it possible to develop a website, held on the external servers of the hosting company, but without public access to it? Is it common nature to develop websites on the servers or is it better to complete it locally then just upload it.

If anybody could help me, it would be much appreciated!

You can install WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP) Server. That's exactly what I do, PHP/MYSQL database:

You can also create a "sandbox" or a subdirectory where the public doesn't know it exists so you can mess around with it. And when you're ready for the changes, you can just FTP them over to the real directory.

I use Notepad++ with the FTP plugin to do direct changes to the website on the fly (if I know it's going to work or the changes are very small).

A web developer position?

Hi I actually got an offer for my co-op term as a Web App Developer. They said they will work with a lot of Apache Tomcat, WinCVS, Ant, and mySQL to develop their service. Can someone explain me how these things interconnect, and how long it will take me to learn this things on the Job?

I already have 2 years of college experience in web deign, development, java and c# Oracle sql plus etc. But, I haven't used the software n clients above. (this work term is part of my program in college, i will be working for only 4 months here)

Java will help you; the fact that they are using Tomcat and Ant suggest they are a Java/JSP shop. Tomcat is a web container where you deploy Servlets/JSP, I recommend reading Head First Servlets/JSP book. WinCVS is source control, no big deal you'll learn as you go. MySql is the database they use; knowing basic sql (select, insert, update,delete) will probably be all you need to start if that. They are hiring a co-op they don't expect you to be that knowledgeable about any of these technologies but if you take initiative to learn as much as you can before hand you can only make a better impression. Sounds like afterwords you'll be way ahead of your piers.

2004 4x4 Dodge Dakota ball joints?

I would like to know if I have to remove the steering knuckle to replace my lower ball joint on my 2004 dodge Dakota 4X4?
It is pressed in and my Chilton manual says "Some balljoint replacement tools are similar to a big heavy duty C-clamp. With this type of tool it is only necessary to separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle"

What I would like to know if I can remove and install the lower pressed in ball joint without removing the front axle shaft or the steering knuckle.

Also I am thinking of replacing the upper ones but they are riveted on. What do you think about the upper bolt in ball joint? the kit says to drill out rivets and install ball joint with supplied bolts.

if you use the tool you have to press the ball joint all the way out on it and then use it to also press them back in with,the upper ones if their riveted you just cut off the heads of the rivets then you get new bolts with the new ones,on the lower ones though you may run in to problems because you do have to remove the knuckle from it,the replacement ball joints are actually better than the original ones was,you can slide the axle off to the side if you can remove the knuckle from it ,but i doubt that you,ll be able to do that,i usually just remove them,lately though i been replacing the whole lower control arm because you can buy one with new ball joints and new bushings in it about as cheap as you can replace the ones you have,be sure and check the control arm bushings real good on it,good luck with it.

What's needed to remove revits from my truck...?

I have a chevy S10, I decided to do away with the body kit known as the ''Xtreme'' and go a different route with the truck. I removed everything except the mounting brackets that are riveted onto the rockers. I want to remove the rivets without damaging the truck more than is necessary. What size drill bit should I use. My understanding is I don't have to go very deep. I just thought I'd ask before I get to carried away with my 18v Ryobi and end up doing more damage. Thanks guys!

And if anyone knows of a good website that has a ''how-to'' that would be most excellent, I couldn't find one, so I thought I'd ask you guys first.

I dont know what size rivets they are, but I would you a drill bit a little bigger then the center of the rivet. Once you drill it out it should pop right off. If you are worried about going in too far with the drill bit you can put tape around the drill bit to prevent you from going in too far with it. You souldn't have to go in more then 1/2".
